Car Insurance Ram (Car Insurance). Why is ABS banned in some car races? Why is ABS banned in some car races? There are a couple reasons, but basically some teams have been cheating... Instead of a simple ABS, they actually have a partial traction control system (they are almost the same mechanically, the difference is mainly in the software). When the FIA caught it too many times, they banned the entire system. Because it is not needed. ABS systems are pretty much limited to full lock ups. The defensive driving course I just too stressed that ABS does not work unless the brake is firmly pressed to the floorboard. Also it can be modified as a traction control. Some sanctioning bodies do not allow this and also ban many other things that are used in current productions cars (like fuel injection). Basically car racing used to be a test bed to improve the breed, but many sanctioning bodies have put a halt to allowing the testing of new technology on the race track. ABS is banned in car races because it gives more of a competitive edge and if they fail you're in trouble.. It takes more skill to tune and use the correct amount of brake force vs just slamming on the brakes. If you slam on the brakes in a car without abs the tires will lock up and you hit a wall. Plus racing is based a lot on feel if you use ABS or TCS you basically will not feel out the road coarse and you could be a big threat, if the electronics fail, to other drivers. I'm used to driving a 5-speed, so switching to a 6-speed was a little rough for a few minutes, especially with the Reverse gear being on the top left (normally on the lower right). Anyway, I stalled it out on the lot twice (haha, yes, twice), and each time I stalled out, the dealer had to use a jumper to get it to start again. He said this was a security feature, which I've heard of before. However, if I happen to stall out somewhere without his handy little jumper box, how do i disable (or whatever) that security feature and get going again? They told me to call the dealership, but it's closed, and I need to go out tonight. SO, in short, how do I disable the car being dead after I stall out? 2004 Toyota Matrix. Thanks! car insurance. Ram . How to Adjust Carburetor BarrelsAdjusting the carburetor barrels is a fairly simple job that can be done in just a few minutes. Each barrel of the carburetor has a corresponding adjustment screw, located at the base of the carburetor, near the barrel. All of the adjustment screws must be set to give the same readings for the carburetor to run efficiently. You can adjust the carburetor barrels yourself with just a screwdriver and vacuum gauge. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Screwdriver Vacuum gauge Step by Step : 1 Take the air cleaner off the top of the carburetor and set it out of the way. Locate the adjustment screws on the sides of the carburetor, near the base. There will be an adjustment screw for each barrel in the carburetor. 2 Turn each adjustment screw clockwise with a screwdriver until they are completely closed without tightening the screw too much. Set the adjustment screws by turning each one counterclockwise about one and a quarter turns. 3 Adjust the idle speed adjustment screw that is attached to the choke rod on the right side of the carburetor, looking at it from the front of the vehicle by turning the screw clockwise until it is closed with a screwdriver. Be careful not to tighten the screw too much. 4 Set the idle speed adjustment screw by turning it back, counterclockwise about one and a quarter turns. Start the engine and let it warm up until the choke cover opens up completely inside the carburetor barrels. 5 Remove the rubber vacuum hose from the bottom of the carburetor and attach a vacuum gauge to the port at the bottom. Turn one of the adjustment screws on the base of the carburetor clockwise until the vacuum gauge reaches the highest reading possible, while continuing to run smoothly. 6 Adjust each of the screws on the bottom of the carburetor barrels alternately until they all have the same readings on the vacuum gauge, reading the highest level possible while still running smoothly. Turn the idle speed adjustment screw clockwise slowly until it reaches approximately 600 rpm while still running smoothly. 7 Readjust the screws on the carburetor barrel so they are all reading the same and running smoothly with the highest levels possible on the gauge. Shut off the engine and remove the vacuum gauge from the carburetor. 8 Reattach the rubber vacuum hose and secure the air cleaner assembly to the top of the carburetor. Tips & Warnings When adjusting carburetor barrels, be careful of moving engine parts. Resources2 Car Pros: How the Carburetor Works
Ram . How to Connect a Carburetor to a Motor on a XR75Many people have learned to ride dirt bikes on Honda's XR75; a small four-stroke with a four speed transmission. Dirt bikes like the Honda XR75 require more maintenance than street bikes. The carburetor on this bike is no exception. If the carburetor cannot be adjusted properly, it's time to remove it, and give it a good cleaning. But, of course, after cleaning it must be reinstalled. It's funny how this ends up being more difficult than removal. Honda used two different carburetors on the XR75, but installation is the same for both. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Remove the seat, side covers and gas tank. 2 Bolt the intake pipe to the cylinder, if it has been removed. 3 Attach the carburetor to the intake pipe, making sure the o-ring between the two is in place. Tighten the nuts. 4 Push the drain tube onto the drain at the bottom of the carburetor. 5 Work the air cleaner's tube, with coil spring on the end, around the carburetor's air intake and push it forward, toward the carburetor. The coil spring will expand allowing it to be pushed on. 6 Ease the throttle slide with its long needle into the top of the carburetor. The notch on the throttle slide should be lined up with the pilot screw, which is on the right hand side of the carburetor just above the float bowl. Screw the cap down securely. 7 Put the fuel tank on. Connect the tank's fuel line to the carburetor. 8 Start the XR75 and make sure the carburetor is working properly. 9 Install the seat and side covers. Tips & Warnings Be sure the carburetor is bolted snugly to the intake pipe and the air cleaner tube is properly attached. If air can leak in at these points the engine may run seemingly well, but dirty air will be sucked into the engine.
